WRITERS THEATRE CENTER | PRECEDENT ANALYSIS

GLENCOE, ILLINOIS

Studio Gang | 2016
During my analysis and massing study of the Writers Theatre Center, I examined key spatial organization strategies of the design. By analyzing successful examples of similar cultural and creative spaces, the study identifies important design elements such as flexible layouts, acoustic performance, and intimate settings that foster creativity and collaboration. The massing model study explores the building’s grid system, solids and voids, circulation, and materiality. This study ensured that the form and structure are responsive to both the site context and programmatic needs.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ROMAN ART | TECTONIC PRECEDENT ANALYSIS

MERIDA, SPAIN

Rafael Moneo | 1838
This analysis draws on the architectural principles and structural innovations of Roman design. Key influences include the use of Roman concrete,  arches, vaults, and domes—structural elements that enabled the creation of expansive, flexible spaces. These tectonic strategies are applied to enhance the museum's spatial organization, creating fluid connections between galleries. The analysis also considers materiality, exploring how Roman stone, brick, and marble can inspire a rich, tactile design language.
